The standard documentation for this sort of thing is Danny Goodman's
"HyperCard 2.2 Handbook". It is now out of print, but occasionally a
copy shows up used on various web auctions or book sites. The book is
focused toward those who are just beginning with the language and it
thoroughly explains all the syntax and constructs. It also has many
chapters related exclusively to HyperCard's IDE but the general ideas
are readily transferable to other programs.
