Considering you can drive or get a very cheap flight anywhere around Europe it shouldn’t matter too much and for logistical reasons being able to take advantage of all their resources for a conference every now and then would be refreshing. The team is now probably too large to fly everyone to a conference. 

Try being on the other side of the planet some time. It least when you’re this far away it doesn’t matter where it is they are all about as expensive as each other.
