Believe me, it's not that I'm unaware of the argument for expanding
platform support, I would looove to write Rev apps and run them on
iPhones...
It's just that companies that do well know how to *focus* on one small
niche and do it better than anyone else. (Until they get really big, I
guess...)
I have been privileged to consult with the developers of Final Cut Pro
software since 1.0 beta, and every rev, they ask me about 500 new
features they want to add, and I tell them "Core functions! Core
functions!"
"Don't make it do more, make it do what it already does better."
Only half joking, I've been telling the team for 9 years their ad
campaign for the next version should be:
"FCP 7: NO NEW FEATURES! (But all the features that were there before
now work perfectly, better and faster!)"
(An odd coincidence that Snow Leopard promises "no new features!" :-)
