evaluate the "it" variable in an external

I have tried several method to get the value of the "it" variable from 
my external but nothing work.

For example I want to use an "ask" dialog from my external.

But the it variable contents disappears before I get fetch it. I've 
tried GetVariable, GetGlobal, EvalExpr, put it into tAnotherVar, etc. 
Is this a bug and is there a workaround?
