Displaying Irregularly Shaped Images/Transparency

Is there any way to set the size of the eraser?  I've just started working
with images, and have half a dozen little (15x15 pixel) images.   Even in
'Magnify' mode, a single click with the eraser wipes out virtually the whole
thing.
