Trouble with export image

Since writing the query below, I realise that sometimes 'export' doesn't export: it produces an (undocumented) result "can't open file" which seems inappropriate. I had somehow messed up the file path and hadn't noticed. There was a different problem with the framing of the image - hard to track down but not worth explaining. Sorry for the bandwidth.
