Agreed, and this was actually a ball and chain on the ankle of Microsoft for so many years, as old DOS users had conniptions every time MS announced they were discontinuing support for DOS in the next major OS release. Backward compatibility is a double edged sword. There is, as always, a balance to be had in there somewhere.
