What features of HTML5 that aren't in HTML4 would you use? What HTML4 features do you use that have been removed from HTML5?

My guess is that the answer to both questions is "not very many". In which case, why don't you write you webpages using features that are in both HTML4 and HTML5. You can safely use the HTML5 doctype as it won't stop older browsers rendering the page.

If there are some HTML5/CSS3 features that you're desperate to use, you can usually find some JavaScript such as html5shiv (http://code.google.com/p/html5shiv/) to help.
