There was a discussion recently on preventing SQL injections in LC.  Here's
an email I got from the support center on a bug/enhancement concerning this.

Hi Peter

I'm updating this to not a bug.

Rather than being tied to the current platform, LiveCode's date processing
is
system independent.  For example, the long date is the same on Windows as
it is
on OS X and Linux.  The system keyword is used by LiveCode to determine the
order in which the day month and year should be displayed rather than the
format to use. (As you've noted, OS X has 4 date formats.  This may not be
the
case with Linux and Windows, thus the system keyword can't be used to
provide
consistent platform specific dates).
