I do love my iPad, but my biggest heartache with it is that apps that I 
would like to have free and unfettered access can't (Codea is a great 
example).

Clearly, Apple's heading that way with OSX, as is Microsoft.  In fact, 
Microsoft wants PCs to only boot signed kernels so you could /only/ run 
Windows on their PCs.

Companies are yearning for total control, for better or worse.
