another trick is to not name your html fields not so obvious. Most bots look for email fields and fill in garbage into the rest. So naming your fields "Applepie", "Rocketbooster" and "Sacknut" instead of "email", "about" and "password" will actually get rid of quite a few of the smarter bots.
