Yes, I've found that curious as well.  In my own work with Rev on Linux 
I've found no issue which would prevent me from downloading stacks and 
decompressing their contents as easily there as on the other two 
supported platforms, so I can't imagine why that update mechanism on 
Linux is so oddly lacking.

I couldn't find an RQCC report for this so I just filed one:
