Hugh,

Doesn't "put empty into fld x" fix the problem? Does the remapping  
apply to all fields or only the field you're pasting into? When you  
paste unicode text, it is normal that the keyboard lay-out switches  
to an encoding/lay-out/mapping compatible with the pasted text.
