updating a standalone app via internet

I download and use revert to update my stacks-- and it's made my life sooo much better. Sometimes I update just because I can!

Now, because I've updated my player app [the standalone I use to run my stacks] to 2.7, I'm sure I'll need to be able to get users to update that as well.

Is it possible to download an update to the running standalone? I'd have to delete/replace the file...should be ok, right? standalones can't save themselves....thoughts?
