Bridging between Mac and PC

I for one upload / download zipped files to / from
a remote server via ftp...
I know this solution may seem out of proportion at
first glance, but it's actually fast, convenient and
cost effective (most ISPs allow a few Mb - and often
much more - so why not use it ?)...
