I get the correct MAC address, however, my client said that they will not
accept it if the user must be logged in as a superuser. So far I've said
I'll find out but at the worst case they may need to get their C programmer
to write an external.

I also get a password prompt returned. I was living in hope that it might
display the standard password dialog.
