About the milliseconds function

Bonjour from France,

Having to design experiments for a cognitive psychology dpt.,
I wonder if the 'milliseconds' function would be a good and 'serious' 
measure for a RT (reaction time !) ?
I remember that the 'old' Hypercard needed a XFCN for this... Is this 
the one in the actual Rev/MC engine ?
I know that a good way is to use a 'button box' with the computer but 
for now we only have a keyboard !
Where can I find any docs on technical specifications about this ?
The last question is : Any differences on Mac and PCwin ?
