Riko Abadi:

 > I really enjoy LiveCode and its syntax.

Me too! that is why I've donated my awareness effort
in free public service here, not easy typing after long illness,
not thinking only of myself, with every chance of retaliation!

But I'm glad to speak up, because ...

 > Instead of arguing about it, why not just use another language?
 > There are plenty of choices out there.

Yes, there are!

Very attractive, increasingly convenient choices -
Without a kill switch, blank check, or end user pricing headaches.

But ...

I really enjoy LiveCode and its syntax.
and the people here. why push loyal users away?

Loyal users from HC/SC to LC hate to move on without a word.
That's not 'arguing'; it's speaking up to benefit all and LiveCode!

Can't ignore it -

The popular alternatives have come a long way. Easier/better now.
People have been retooling elsewhere; no choice.

Window is closing to fix some LiveCode pricing/terms issues.
Not a personal, private account matter - globally flawed terms!

Meet the LiveCode Create EULA -
https://livecode.com/eula

Runtime kill switch = fragile Toy Apps.
Blank check terms = legal/financial minefield.

For me, Blank check terms and Runtime kill switch will not fly.

Riko Abadi:

 > There is no “phone call home” for license verification.

Don't forget 2 things -

I'm speaking up to fix some EULA issues, not violate it;
not a hacking effort around it!

and key word PERIODICALLY for license checks.

Meet the LiveCode Create FAQ -
https://livecode.com/faq

"Apps require active [LiveCode Create] licensing to run.
If your license lapses, your apps will no longer be licensed
and they will not continue to run."

"apps... periodically look for a connection to check their licensing."

Thus, as someone said perfectly -

Riko Abadi:

 > This means already-built apps are permanently dependent on ongoing
 > license renewal just to execute... Under the current terms, LiveCode
 > Create is not a viable option for serious, long-lived applications.

I really enjoy LiveCode, its syntax, and the people here.
Hope this requested advice improves LiveCode Create.

Either way, I have successfully raised the topic; thanks all.

Bright future / new year...
Happy Holy-days of Christ's Mass!

Best wishes,

Curry Kenworthy
