Android,iOS stay in background?

if i recall correctly, Android keeps an app running in background as long as Android does not need the memory the app is "consuming".
And i think iOS is doing that as well.

In the past one had to modify the plist file to allow background execution in iOS. But for some time now you should be able to allow background execution by enabling the requirement "Background Fetch" in the standalone settings.

If there is also a way in Android , i do not know.
