Scrollbar scale value not showing in Windows

Hi.
I thought this was a bug in the control years ago, until I inadvertently stretched it, and the values simply appeared. Eureka! This on a Mac.

I have a small app that I've written for my lockdown-affected class, and the students with Windows can not see the value of 'scale' type scrollbar controls that have their showValue property set to true, but the Macs can.  Is there a cross-platform trick that I don't know?
