Deleting a char inside a textField via code

Not much help forthcoming around these parts: so: Diddit masen:

*on mouseUp**
**   put the selectedChunk into CHK**
**   put word 4 of CHK into NUMERO**
**   delete char NUMERO of fld "ff"**
**end mouseUp*
