The slowdown you refer to happened between different builds of 6.7. The
engineers tried to speed things up using multiple threads when rendering
(one of a couple of attempts to speed things up on high-dpi monitors). It
caused lots of crashes, however, so it was removed prior to release. That
seems like a good idea to me :-)
