It's funny -- I had a meeting with several developers and project managers
where we were all griping about Jira (and there are many good reasons to
gripe...). When the lead developer suggested that we could build our own
tool and be happier, I shot him down because it would be a ton of work, and
pretty much what you said: the probability was near-zero that we had
something in mind that one of the other 100 PM tools on the market didn't
already do. We dropped the idea and went back to beating Jira into shape.

And then that night, I had a blinding shock of inspiration and did exactly
what I said wouldn't happen: I spent several hours drawing up notes for a
PM tool unlike anything I've seen. It's within LC's wheelhouse, would work
extremely well on tablets, and have several features that (I think) would
demo like dynamite.
