Performance v Python

A couple months ago Simon Smith did a very helpful comparison of PHP v LC:

Has anyone here had the opportunity to perform any comparative 
benchmarks between LiveCode and Python?

Given the strengths and weaknesses of each, I would imagine in many 
respects they would run roughly on par, with some operations perhaps 
slightly faster in LC, but I don't have the Python skills to make a good 
test myself.
