Using the sSMTP library

which one do you use? Shao Sean´s or Sarah Reichelt´s one?
But anyway, i am using both with no problems.

There is a nice wrapper for Shao Sean´s library from Altuit called altEmailHarness
You could try this. If it works then maybe you are doing something wrong in your code.

Enter the following into the message box

go URL "http://www.gadgetplugins.com/altplugins/altEmailHarness.rev"
