Serial Port Access

Hi all. 

Has anyone written a serial port library? I would be happy to pay for it. What I want to do is replace our call accounting software with something I write. We don't need much, just departmentalized reports for charge backs, so I can do that pretty simply in LC, but I am not very hip on serial communications. 

I guess what I am looking for is something I can "turn on" and get the serial data coming in from a 9 pin coming from our phone system. I can parse the data as I get it. I just need a serial library that handles the connection and reads the data.
