Maarten,
Broadcasting is quite unreliable in LiveCode. Soemtimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I use a repeat loop to send a brief code to all IP addresses over UDP. This triggers clients to tell the server they exist. An example doing this is Clipboard Link http://clipboardlink.economy-x-talk.com/ (This is a standalone).
