Richard, I just thought one way to do what you want: Flash.  It might be a
bit convoluted, but Flash is lightyears ahead of Rev in handling audio.  I
can think of 2 ways you might be able to do what you need:

1) Create an audio player movie and control the movie within a RevBrowser
instance in your stack.

2) Create a Flash projector and use it as helper application for your stack.
This depends on whether Flash projectors are controllable (via something
like AppleScript and/or VB) but a quick search on the Web seems to indicate
it might be possible with AppleScript.
