crop command and resized images

Anyone know how these play together - trying to create a stack that crops a
large image but keeps the highest possible resolution. The image is
displayed scaled down and then I indicate the crop area in the GUI. I'm
working on the geometry now - I guess this should be possible to do within
Rev without reverting to command line clients like SIPS or ImageMagick?
