silly text editing question

Aye, that would tell me the number of words FROM THE BEGINNING. I  
wanted to know the number of the selected word in the selected line.

Actually, this came up when I was trying to make my own table object  
and realized that I would have to trap tabkey and returnkey and move  
the selection myself. So I really wanted to know which item (assuming  
the itemDelimiter was tab) of which line was presently selected. I  
gave up out of frustration.
