where to put plugins, externals, under linux

Note also that you can change this in the rev preferences panel under
"Files and Memory | User Extensions". And that you have to create the
folder yourself - it's not automatic. I have my Ubuntu prefs set to
"/home/mwieder/revolution".

Andre- I'm assuming this is for your own use and you're not attempting
to roll this into a distribution package. If you're trying to come up
with a generic solution for this and you can work within the IDE, then
you can just use what revenvironmentuserpluginspath() returns. I have
yet to find a solution for figuring out what the user has selected if
I'm creating a standalone app. I'm not sure there's any generic way of
finding this out.

Secret decoder ring special: if you use glx2, you can copy the stack
into your user plugins folder and it will work, although it's not
officially supported.
