system date format problem

I notice a big difference in the way date formats work in my 10.4.11 mac
compared to my 10.5 mac.
In both macs I have a custom date format yyyy-mm-dd (you would think that
would be an available format and not have to be custom).

In the 10.5 mac my Valentina database sees that system format and everything
is fine. In the 10.4.11 mac it does not see it and thinks I am using m/d/y
(the U.S. system).

Is there a RunRev command that will return the date format for the system I
am on and perhaps even set it differently?
