Setting up a TCP/IP network over Firewire . . .

Connected with previous posting.

So assigned IP address to "built-in" Firewire which is
connected to my Miglia digital converter and was told
"The cable for built-in FireWire is not plugged in":

something that is not true.

Help, advice gratefully recieved.
