My favorite warning is at the Grand Canyon, on a sign at the edge of the 
canyon above a 2000-foot drop. Next to an icon of a falling person is 
this text:

"Those who have died here have crossed this point."

Simple, informative, and makes no demands.  The user can choose to cross 
that point or live, as they prefer.
