OK - I tried it out. Can't say I much care for it.
Maybe that's why he wanted me to pay before looking... <g>
I'm in favor of rethinking HIGs, but this is pretty extreme:
I've somehow gotten used to labels and/or tooltips instead of eye-candy
icons to tell what's what. The dock at the bottom doesn't do that until you
launch something.
And then, as in the case of the installer I accidentally launched, it's
sometimes a pain to get out of trouble. I rather expect a single-step cancel
rather than a series of pressing various cancel buttons.
I have yet to figure out how to install an app. I know I can open a terminal
session and use apt-get with Super Cow Powers, but I think it's a big step
away from kubuntu's adept. There's probably something hidden in the ui that
I haven't yet discovered, but I'm not really inclined to go find it. And
somewhat depressed that I wasted time burning a live cd for this.
Did I miss something obvious? Wouldn't be the first time, but I can't this
offering anything other than a dumbed-down interface.
