OK - I tried it out. Can't say I much care for it.
Maybe that's why he wanted me to pay before looking... <g>

I'm in favor of rethinking HIGs, but this is pretty extreme:

I've somehow gotten used to labels and/or tooltips instead of eye-candy 
icons to tell what's what. The dock at the bottom doesn't do that until you 
launch something.

And then, as in the case of the installer I accidentally launched, it's 
sometimes a pain to get out of trouble. I rather expect a single-step cancel 
rather than a series of pressing various cancel buttons.

I have yet to figure out how to install an app. I know I can open a terminal 
session and use apt-get with Super Cow Powers, but I think it's a big step 
away from kubuntu's adept. There's probably something hidden in the ui that 
I haven't yet discovered, but I'm not really inclined to go find it. And 
somewhat depressed that I wasted time burning a live cd for this.

Did I miss something obvious? Wouldn't be the first time, but I can't this 
offering anything other than a dumbed-down interface.
