Problem with zeros in lookup table

I have three fields which represent  a raw score, stanine score, and  
percentile score. When there is no raw score, the stanine score in  
lookup table is reported as if there is a raw score of zero. The  
lookup table contains raw scores from 0 to 55. How can I prevent a  
stanine score being placed in a field when there is no raw score?
