Comparing multiple list of coordinates points

Hi all,
How could i compare multiple lists of coordinates
points against a set of base coordinates points,
and determine which of these lists is closer to
my base set?
My base list of coordinate points contains:
127,67/127,71/127,76/128,80/128,83/128,86/128,89/128,91
/127,93/127,94/126,96/126,97/125,97/124,97/123,98/122,97/
121,97/120,97/119,96/118,95/117,94/116,93/114,92/113,90/
112,89/110,88/109,86/107,85/106,83/105,82/103,81/102,79/
100,78/99,77/98,76/96,76/95,75/94,75/93,75/92,75/90,75/
89,76/88,77/88,78/87,79/86,81/85,83/85,86/84,89/84,93/84,97
Then, i have multiple lists (100 or 200 lists)
of coordinate points that presents small or big
variations in their coordinates position,
when compared with the base list of coordinate points,
but all lists have the same first and last points.
(These first and last points are the line startpoint
and endpoint respectively.)
For example, some lists of coordinates points coincide
exactly or closely with the base list, but only in
the first 10 or 12 coordinates points. In other lists,
the last 20 coordinates almost coincide with the
last 20 points of base list. In some lists, the middle
coordinates points coincide almost exactly with
my base list of points.
i was thinking of assigning some kind of score to
every coordinate point in every list, then adding
these scores to have an overall score for every
list, then, lists with smaller score would be closer
to my base list...
Im sure that this is not the fastest or better method,
so my question is:
Which methods could be devised to know which of
these lists approximates more, as a whole,
to my base list of coordinates points?
Thanks in advance,
alejandro
