I have doen some more raw SQL using Trevor's library:

It seems that PostGreSql statements do not like quoted SQL values, so:

     SELECT * FROM 'roles' WHERE id = '-1'

does not work, while

     SELECT * FROM roles WHERE id = -1

does.
