There's a snail in my script entry !

There is too much overhead in the script editor. Even after 
turning off colorizing, auto-formatting, auto-matching etc, the 
script editor is still too slow for me to feel comfortable while 
entering my scripts.

The problem was reported as bug 2124 and can be found here:

The bug has been closed, presumably fixed, but I don't really 
see a difference. Maybe the bug should be re-opened?
