I recently got a USB MP3 player w/voice recording, and it records in WAV 
and a format called ACT.

ACT?!?

It seems mighty efficient, but darned if I can find a spec for it, or a 
conversion utility for OS X (other than the non-AppleScriptable one that 
comes with the device).

Any of you familiar with the ACT audio format?  Know where I can find 
conversion utils and/or a format spec? (if I'm feeling ambitious I may 
consider writing a conversion external)
