Welcome to another APL convert.  Unfortunately this isn't APL.
Fortunately it isn't LISP:  CDR(CAR(CDR(CDR(CAR(CDR(CAR(x)))))))

I can't believe that you're complaining about this.  In three lines of
code you have accomplished what would take another epoch in most other
tools.

I agree that it's stupid that you have to use a field to accomplish
the task, but anyway,
