copy icons

Simple question ... is there an easy way to copy a button which uses an 
icon, and have it copy the icon too (that is assuming the new stack 
were saved as a standalone, it would not loose the icon because it 
pointed to a resource in some stack which is no longer available.  
Alternatively, how can you determine which stack an icon of given id 
actually belongs to (say the icon is id 202734, how do you determine 
where that resource is?
