Connecting to PostGreSQL on same machine: Mac OSX

Hi , in order to run thru a tcp/ip connection it has to be enabled  
first , to do so eithre you enable the tcp/ip or you start it
with an -I flag.
su - postgres
password
postgres% "/usr/local/bin/postmaster -D /usr/local/pgsql/data –I" (  
this is the -I flag you enter)
