htmlText - hard to pin down cause of crash

I just ran a test in which I took the HTML in question and set a field's 
htmltext to it 1000 times -- no crash.

So it may not be htmlText at all, but perhaps something else.  The 
htmlText is a part of a larger routine -- I'll keep testing portions of 
it until I find the culprit....
