htmlText - hard to pin down cause of crash

I've never seen it cause a crash before. Sometimes I use an off screen 
field to convert text, rich text, or markup text fragments into rev 
friendly htmlText.

Is there any chance you are sometimes sending not-well formed SGML 
through the htmlText function?
