Standalone still active in Windows Task Manager (XP) after Quitting

Actually, this happens on Mac OS X as follows:
My main stack has a button marked "Exit". The script is thus:
on mouseUp
close this stack
end mouseUp
Truly simple. No other stacks are open. Clicking the button closes
the stack window, but *does not* quit the application.
I also intercept and "pass" both closeStackRequest and shutdownRequest.
Clicking on the window's close box yields
the correct behavior (the application quits).
