Thanks, James, for clearing that up.

Now the rant:

The Message Box results led me to that possible conclusion; but I 
discounted it,thinking "When it came time to establish computer 
notation for a symbol that will be as widely used as the Euro, no 
group in its right mind would select notation that won't work with 
single-byte character sets."

Just goes to show once again what a foole I am.        :{`)
