Too funny! I suppose they would argue that browser-running is necessary
because it is a "distance learning" class and the web is the technological
analog to correspondence school.
I agree that it is a narrow view of the usefulness of the internet, but
"they" are not technology specialists but rather are from the education
disciplines. Plus, they are "in charge" and I'm not likely to be very
popular if Day 1 I tell them they are being narrow-minded and incompetent.
