FTP progress feedback

Hi,

I am using the put URL ftp command to transfer files.
Can someone offer a suggestion of how to get the percent completed of an
FTP in progress to show in a progress bar?
Similarly, how can I get an object to move from screen location 200,35 to
location 200, 450.  What I want to do is animate
an icon of the file being transferred to show movement of the file from one
server to another geographically.
