call a function?

Thanks for the answers about calling a function. Turns
out the function does get called after all.. I had put
a beep inside the function as a test, and I could
never hear it.. but afther further checking more I
found that the function does get called and return a
value.
I gather that that's the nature of functions that
makes it skip the beep..? correct?
- anyways, working as expected now.
